About Floor Scrapers
Jordan Power Equipment stocks 16+ ride-on and walk-behind floor scrapers from Husqvarna and National Flooring Equipment. Floor scrapers are essential for removing vinyl tile, carpet, hardwood, ceramic, and adhesive residue from concrete substrates. Our ride-on models dramatically reduce labor time on large commercial and industrial floors. Walk-behind units are ideal for smaller areas and tight spaces. Most models are available for purchase or rental. Call (866) 662-6710 to discuss your floor removal project.

Floor Scrapers: Complete Buyer's Guide
Whether you're removing vinyl tile from a hospital corridor or stripping an entire warehouse floor before new coatings, the right floor scraper turns a multi-day job into hours. This guide covers walk-behind and ride-on models, blade selection, and how to match the machine to your flooring removal project.
Types of Floor Scrapers
Walk-Behind Electric
Compact operator-pushed or self-propelled scrapers for medium floors. Husqvarna BS 75 and BS 110 are popular models for commercial flooring removal in tight spaces.
Self-Propelled Walk-Behind
Engine-driven forward motion reduces operator fatigue. The Husqvarna BMS-280P and BMC 335 Floor Shaver handle heavier flooring materials with less effort.
Ride-On Scrapers
Operator-ridden machines for maximum production. National 5000DL through 8000 series cover 5,000–15,000+ sq ft per hour on large commercial and warehouse floors.
Power Hammer / Trolley
Pneumatic or electric hammer-style tools for ceramic tile, terrazzo, and stubborn adhesive removal in areas where scrapers cannot reach or maneuver.
How to Choose the Right Floor Scraper
Under 5,000 sq ft: a walk-behind scraper is sufficient and more economical. 5,000–50,000 sq ft: a self-propelled or light ride-on model pays for itself in labor savings. Over 50,000 sq ft: a full-size ride-on (National 5700, 7700, or 8000) is the right choice.
Vinyl tile and sheet vinyl: standard flat blade. Carpet and rubber: wide blade with aggressive angle. Ceramic tile: cup or angled blade with heavier machine weight. Hardwood: specialized wood floor scraper blades.
Fresh or soft adhesive scrapes easily. Old, hard, or cutback adhesive may require a grinder or scarifier after scraping to fully remove residue before new coatings.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a floor scraper used for?
A floor scraper removes flooring materials — vinyl tile, ceramic tile, carpet, hardwood, and rubber — from concrete or wood subfloors. Walk-behind models handle medium floors; ride-on models handle large commercial and warehouse floors at 5,000–15,000+ sq ft per hour.
What is the difference between a walk-behind and ride-on floor scraper?
Walk-behind scrapers are for medium floors and tight spaces. Ride-on scrapers (National 5000DL through 8000 series) dramatically increase production on large floors, removing flooring at 5,000–15,000+ sq ft per hour.
What brands does Jordan Power Equipment carry?
We carry Husqvarna BS/BMS series walk-behind scrapers and National Flooring Equipment ride-on scrapers — the industry standard for large commercial flooring removal.
Can a floor scraper remove ceramic tile?
Yes — with the right blade angle and machine weight. Heavy-duty walk-behind and ride-on scrapers with ceramic tile blades handle most tile removal. Very thick or heavily bonded tile may need grinding afterward to remove residual adhesive.
What blades does a floor scraper use?
Flat blades for vinyl tile and sheet vinyl. Angled or cup blades for ceramic tile and thick adhesive. Wide blades for carpet and rubber. Blade widths range from 8"–20" on walk-behind machines and 20"–36" on ride-on machines.
